CANCELED "22nd Annual Hooked on Fishing... Not on Drugs"... CANCELED

"CANCELED" 22nd Annual Hooked on Fishing... Not on Drugs CANCELED
To all of you who support “Get Hooked on Fishing … Not on Drugs” each year. The Oroville Kiwanis Club is sorry to say this event is canceled due to the high flows of the Feather River through the pond at Bedrock.  The swift flows is a concern for the safety of all children. This was a hard decision because the children look forward to it but this is an extra wet year. The club members has enjoyed doing this event and plan on doing it next year.
Thanks again for your support and we are looking forward to next year,
 Oroville Kiwanis Club

Lord's Gym Kids Mud Run 2019

The annual Lord’s Gym Kids Mud Run is FREE, and it’s taking over Oroville on Saturday, June 1, 2019!  The Kids Mud Run is a mile-long, obstacle course-style race for children ages 4-12. Kids will run, jump, swing and crawl through over 20+ exhilarating obstacles--not to mention mud!  The race is divided into three separate age groups (4-6, 7-9 & 10-12) with age-appropriate obstacles so that children can run together their friends and peers of the same age. This allows the race to be safe enough for little ones while also challenging the pre-teens. A special school competition, know as the “Superhero School Bell”, allows children to rack up points for their school by taking part and dressing up in their school’s colors.

In between races kids, will enjoy Mud Fest with inflatables, food and carnival style attractions.  Mud Fest will be running 9am-3pm at an additional cost.

A National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere Comedy
by Joseph Zettelmaier
Directed by Jerry Miller

Los Angeles, 1933. Washed-up PI Frank Ellery takes on the strangest case of his life. A hack literary agent has been gruesomely murdered, and the four suspects are the agent’s remaining clients: wildly eccentric writers for different pulp magazines.

Frank dives into the mystery, and his world turns upside down as life begins to imitate literature.

In this genre-bending comedy whodunnit, the plot swings from laughs to chills as science fiction, romance, adventure, and horror collide with one down-on-his-luck gumshoe who’s about to learn what really lurks between the lines.

Jeff Hohimer, Sarah Brown, Eric Ricketts, Tony Varicelli & Christopher Jones star in this comic adventure that jumps from paperback to paperback down the bookshelves as the mystery unfolds.

Jeff Hohimer, Sarah Brown, Eric Ricketts, Tony Varicelli & Christopher Jones star in this comic adventure that jumps from paperback to paperback down the bookshelves as the mystery unfolds.

this silent epidemic by attending Enloe Medical Center’s free seminar on June 17 from 11 a.m. to

how to identify symptoms, and how to know when a young athlete is ready to return to work and
play. Also hear about the medical center’s new multidisciplinary concussion clinic opening later

Facebook Live: Robotic Surgery Makes Procedure Possible During Camp Fire - Enloe Event

Thursday, June 20 | Facebook Live: Robotic Surgery Makes Procedure Possible During
Camp Fire
When the Camp Fire broke out on Nov. 8, it became the busiest day in Enloe’s 105-year history.
Beds quickly filled up as the hospital took in 49 patients evacuated from Adventist Health
Feather River and other evacuees. Non-emergency surgeries had to be delayed to make space for
disaster victims. Luckily, Mark Garrison, D.O., was able to make it possible for a patient in pain
to have her scheduled procedure using Enloe’s da Vinci robot. Learn more when Garrison talks
about that day and shares how robotic-assisted surgery helped his patient. Tune in to Enloe’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/enloe.medical/ on June 20 at noon to view the discussion.
Viewers are encouraged to ask questions in the Comments field during the broadcast.

Due to the size of our event last year (208 Golfers!) and having participation at every hole from our vendors (around 40) we have decided to cap the total number of golfers this year so we can provide the best possible experience for our golfers and vendors. With the food, drinks, and participation at every hole, coupled with that high number of people caused challenges for streamlined gameplay last year. We reached our goal of having one of the Largest attended Golf Tournaments in the area, and we are re-focusing on the gameplay. We appreciate everyone that has and will support our tournament. Our commitment to you is to have a one of a kind golf tournament and experience! Please sign up as soon as possible to avoid waiting lists.

The mission of The Yellow Door is to give support to individuals with autism and their families while promoting student leadership and involvement in the local community. The name, "The Yellow Door" comes from an individual with autism that many years ago that liked doors. When asked what their favorite color for a door would be if they could pick, they answered: "yellow, because it's like opening a door of sunshine." That positive image is something that The Yellow Door hopes to foster. The mission of the Chico State Autism Clinic is to promote the sensory, motor, communicative, and cognitive skills of individuals with autism through a multi-sensory approach to learning.

How does Autism effect the community?
• Autism now affects 1 in 68 children
• Boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls
• About 40% of children with autism do not speak. About 25%–30% of children with autism have some words at 12 to 18 months of age and then lose them. Others might speak, but not until later in childhood
• Autism greatly varies from person to person (no two people with autism are alike)
• The rate of autism has steadily grown over the last twenty years
• Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disorder, yet most underfunded
• A 2008 Danish Study found that the mortality risk among those with autism was nearly twice that of the general population
• Children with autism do progress – early intervention is key
• Autism is treatable, not a hopeless condition
