"Butte County Through the Eye of the Artist" Exhibition

Admission: $5 per person

This year the Society is having a new fund raiser. We are planning on sponsoring an art show at the Museum at 1749 Spencer Avenue. The plans are to showcase Butte County's historic features through the works of local artists. Also, a tribute to the historic treasures that were lost in the Camp Fire will be featured, and hopefully some support can be given to those organizations who lost their collections.

There will raffles, refreshments and a chance to enjoy the artwork from many local artists. Many of them have created works that feature local historic locales.

As part of this fundraiser there will be a special raffle. It will be for an art excursion into the Sutter Buttes. Tickets are $25 and the winner will, along with five friends, enjoy a day trip to the historic Dean Ranch in the center of the Sutter Buttes. This location is not otherwise available to the public. The trip will include lunch, snacks and drinks throughout the day and an art lesson from featured artist Anna Olson. All supplies will be provided and instruction for all levels of ability.

Tickets for this special raffle are available at the archives and museum, if you wish to purchase some. You can drop in during archive or museum hours or send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Butte County Historical Society, PO Box 2195, Oroville, CA 95965.

The winning ticket will be drawn at the end of the show, and the excursion will take place the last Sunday in March so that the artists can enjoy the wildflowers and other beautiful and historical sights.

Anyone interested in helping with the show in either the planning or the set-up please let us know. If you have paintings that you would like to share for this show, we are very interested in hearing from you. You can call the archives at 533-9418 and leave a message if we aren't open.

By way of celebration, we will be kicking off our 2019 Season with a special installment of our popular Radioland shows. We can't wait to see our crowds gathering back together to enjoy a bit of nostalgia; our Radioland shows are always full of fun and laughter, as well as a bushel basket of musical talent from all over Butte County. This very special show will be no exception. We hope you will join us as we celebrate our hopes and dreams for the future. Please return to Paradise with us, opening Valentine's Day for a 3-week run. A love letter to Paradise.

Radioland Returns to Paradise

A Musical Comedy Radio Show written & directed by Jerry Miller
In a miracle among the total devastation of the Camp Fire to our community, our beloved little playhouse still stands. We're not sure what the future holds, but we will be back up and running with the 2019 Season to provide much needed love and light for our community as Paradise rises anew from the ashes.
